Caron Asgarali is a Chemistry teacher from Vistabella, San Fernando in Trinidad who was shot in her face during an attempted robbery. She underwent emergency surgery and remained in Intensive Care at the San Fernando General Hospital for several days. She was then transferred to the Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) ward where she remained as a patient for the next twenty four days. She was unable to speak for about three weeks after the incident. Caron’s lower jaw was fractured on both the left and right sides; the jaws had to be wired shut for several months before she underwent reconstructive surgery. Plastic surgery (cosmetic) and other minor procedures are still pending.

After all the possible physical procedures and when her body was on its way back to wholeness, she began to spiral into the dark tunnel of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. She began a mental battle to combat this threatening cloud of darkness. During her recuperation, she had a spiritual renewal after several encounters with her Lord. When He called her there was no alternative but to answer and obey His directive to tell her story against the backdrop of the Beatitudes of the Sermon on the Mount found in the New Testament of the Holy Bible.

Caron enjoys writing and used it as a form of therapy during her recovery. She is currently working on a new book of devotional stories based on the people, places and popular items of her country.
